Who Needs Talent? Better Understanding Leads to Better Drives!

I absolutely love it when I get to find fun and creative ways to blend together my personal and professional lives! Imagine my surprise and excitement this week as I read some of the work of Bransford et al. (2000)! It is so easy to forget how universal some of the practices are that I try to incorporate into my classroom. It completely opens my eyes when I'm given the opportunity to look at one of my favorite hobbies through an educational lens and find connections I can relate to as both a teacher and a student. I believe my essay on the subject highlights the enthusiasm I bring from both viewpoints.





Being so early on in my teaching career, it helps to have a reminder of how my teaching looks from the students' points-of-view. It's been so long since I was sitting where they were and going through similar content that I can overlook some of the complexities they face during my lessons. It's funny how something can come around at just the right time to force a reality check onto you. I hope my essay conveys a similar message that might just help remind others that every once and a while, even experts need to take a step back and reevaluate their craft.
